Mobile DR solutions provide safer, better imaging for special needs patients

A 781-bed teaching hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center treats a wide array of patients with unique needs—from premature babies and children to elderly and bariatric patients. That’s why finding DR solutions that capture high-quality images quickly at a gentle dose—all while enhancing workflow—was a top priority. The facility invested in Fujifilm's FDR AQRO, a mini mobile system and five FDR Go portable digital radiography (DR) units. Ever since, the hospital reports a "huge decrease" in radiation dose with pediatric and NICU patients. And thanks to the FDR AQRO's Virtual Grid and new Dynamic Visualization II image processing, images acquired are just as sharp and clear as if a physical grid was used.

"Workflow has greatly improved for our physicians. Our NICU doctors, for example, used to have to wait until the technologist processed each cassette before it could hit our PACS just to see the images. Now, doctors see the images right away. This has helped workflow for umbilical lines and umbilical IV lines, because the doctors can make adjustments right away as needed instead of waiting."
