The EPX-4440HD high-definition digital video processor (VP-4440HD) with FICE (Flexible spectral Imaging Color Enhancement) and 300 watt xenon light source (XL-4450) is designed to meet the needs of any facility – ambulatory surgery center to academic medical center.
The EPX-4440HD system can be used with our exclusive Double Balloon Endoscopy® System (DBE), 600, 500 and 400 Series endoscopes.

The VP-4440HD unit is used for endoscopic observation, diagnosis, treatment and image recording. It is intended to process electronic signals transmitted from a video endoscope (a video camera in an endoscope). This product may be used on all patients requiring endoscopic examination and when using a Fujinon/Fujifilm medical endoscope, light source, monitor, recorder and various peripheral devices. FICE is an adjunctive tool for gastrointestinal endoscopic examination which can be used to supplement FUJIFILM white light endoscopy. Compatible with 400, 500 and 600 Series Endoscopes. FICE is not intended to replace histopathological sampling as a means of diagnosis.

Flexible spectral Imaging Color Enhancement (FICE) is an image processing enhancement technology which generates real-time spectral images from conventional white light images through the use of special processing algorithms. Now available on the VP-4440HD video processor from Fujifilm, it enables users to apply image enhancement to emphasize the contrast to a white light endoscopy image.
FICE extracts spectral images of specific wavelength components from the original full spectral (white light) image through an image processing algorithm, then assigns a spectral wavelength component in the Red (R), Green (G) and Blue (B) spectrums, and displays the enhanced color image.
FICE enhances the color contrast to improve visibility of the structure or anatomic area of interest.
When Dual Mode is activated, both the FICE image and white light image are displayed on the same monitor, providing additional information for examination.
While FICE is activated, the EPX-4440HD can simultaneously record both the FICE image and white light image on a CF Card or recording device.
When activated by pressing the freeze button, real-time video is displayed in a small window along with the white light still image, helping users conduct examinations without losing sight of the target in the G.I. tract. The white light still image can be easily switched to the FICE image, leading to more efficient, precise imaging.
FICE provides the user with ten (10) different presets that each present a different color spectral display (comprised of wavelengths in various color spectrums). These presets may emphasize vasculature and mucosal surface structures of the internal G.I. tract. Use the endoscope button to select up to three presets. You can select the best FICE preset pattern for each examination with a single push of a button.

The E-Zoom feature can be activated by depressing a button on the endoscope. Traditionally, electronic zoom images provided digitally magnified images, but at the expense of additional electronic noise within the image. Now, with the combination of E-Zoom and the 600 Series CMOS endoscopes, physicians can enjoy the benefits of digital magnification with the added clarity provided by the digital CMOS imaging sensor.
