Photographer's Bio

I'm a commercial photographer based in Toronto, Ontario. I'm fortunate that my work takes me around the world and I use every trip to capture gorgeous landscapes, interesting cultures and document adventures. It's been my pleasure to represent FUJIFILM as an
X-Photographer since 2013. The compact size and excellent image quality has helped me capture some of my absolute best images to date.

Photographer's Testimonial

It's no secret that my FUJIFILM X10 is the goto camera in my gear bag. I reach for it whenever I'm off the clock because it does so many things well. The small size and solid build means that I can throw it in a knapsack, shoulder bag or jacket pocket without giving it a second thought until needed. When I see something I want to capture, the wide general purpose focal range can be pressed into service for almost any situation including macro images.

The FUJIFILM X30 has taken all those good qualities and improved on them significantly. The tilting LCD, EVF viewfinder, film simulations and video all wrapped in a package not much larger than the original FUJIFILM X10. It's operation is fast, buttons and controls are well laid out and intuitive. The inclusion of the wireless feature is a real game changer though..instant sharing with my smartphone.

I've owned compact cameras from several manufacturers over the years, none of which suits me better than the FUJIFILM models. Solid, versatile and great looking.

Photographer's Work

I shot this on a road trip in the northern Ontario area. We Toronto people call it cottage country. Ramara is a sleepy town on the shores of Lake Simcoe and features neighbourhoods linked together by narrow canals. The wonderful thing about the FUJIFILM X30 is that you don't need to make a special effort to capture a nice scene like this. Just frame the scene, check the exposure and click the shutter. You can process the image with any of the featured film simulations later.

I captured this image of a Spider on it's web using the close focusing macro mode. I have a soft spot for animals and my portfolio is filled with wildlife and nature shots. The macro mode puts you very close to even the smallest critters and the sensor size almost guarantees that most of the subject will be in focus.

Fall is my favourite time of year. The trees and plants burst with color and the air is usually free of heavy haze. I've made some of my best landscape images at this time of year. This one was shot at the Evergreen Brickworks location in Toronto. The Velvia film simulation mode is a great match.

I shot this in early October while boating near the Toronto Islands. I've always loved the cityscape from the harbour, especially at night. The FUJIFILM X30 is so small and light that I kept it hanging around my neck as I was paddling. When I got into position, I just raised the camera, clicked the shutter a few times and carried on into port.
