FUJIFILM Corporation (President and CEO: Shigetaka Komori) has acquired shares of the China's medical IT system company Tianjian Medi Tech Co.,Ltd. (Headquartered in Beijing, China; hereinafter "Tianjian"), in preparation for a full-scale entry into the rapidly-growing medical IT system market in China in December.
Tianjian offers the development, marketing, sales and maintenance services for a wide range of medical IT systems including HIS (Hospital Information System), EMR (Electronic Medical Records), RIS (Radiology Information System), PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), PIS (Pathology Information System) and regional medical information systems. With far-reaching product lineup and software development capacity that can address customer needs from the medical frontline, the company delivers comprehensive solutions to over 1,000 hospitals across China, boasting the top market share in the field of medical IT systems. It is expected to continue substantial growth in the country.
Fujifilm was the global forerunner in 1983 when it released the FCR*1 digital X-ray imaging diagnostic systems, realizing the digitalization of medical imaging. The SYNAPSE*2 medical imaging and information management system, released in 1999, has enjoyed strong reputation for its high-quality images and outstanding stability of 99.99 percent uptime, having been introduced to approx. 2,000 medical institutions around the world and gaining the top market share in Japan.
The latest move to turn Tianjian into a Fujifilm group company will allow Fujifilm to enter HIS, EMR and other medical IT systems market in China, now expanding at the rate of 20% per annum, and aggressively promote the sales of SYNAPSE. Fresh opportunities of business negotiations for medical IT systems will also be utilized to further expand the market share of around 40% for FCR and gastroenterological endoscopes.
