FUJIFILM’S INNOVATIVE XMF WORKFLOW ALLOWS PANAPRINT TO STREAMLINE PRODUCTION WITH ONLINE JOB APPROVALS 

 

Valhalla, N.Y., February 7, 2014 – Panaprint, a Macon, GA-based printer is continuing their industry success by introducing Fujifilm’s XMF Workflow, a system based on JDF specifications and Adobe APPE technology. XMF Remote allows Panaprint to produce publications from all across the Southeast, where remote approval capabilities are an absolute necessity. 

Panaprint boasts a 248,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility, containing two web presses and one eight-color sheet-fed press, digital printing, saddle-stitchers, a perfect binder, in-house mailing, fulfillment services, shipping and receiving, an award winning design team, and in-house customer service. With the number of files that were coming over Panaprint’s FTP site, there was a need to get more jobs processed faster. Utilizing the Remote component of XMF Workflow, Panaprint is now able to offer its geographically broad customer base the ability to drive the print production process more efficiently. Online, customers can easily upload, pre-flight, proof and approve jobs, which simplifies the process and saves time for all involved.

“Because we have such a large remote base, we wanted to make sure whatever we used was going to be robust and stout enough to handle that, said Jerry Axtell, prepress manager, Panaprint. “We received a quote from our previous workflow provider to move us to a virtual platform and we also requested a quote from Fujifilm to switch to XMF,” continued Axtell. “While Fujifilm was less expensive, price isn’t everything. They were also able to provide us with additional capabilities and features that we really wanted and needed, not to mention consolidate 15 servers to just three, and that’s why we opted to go with XMF.”

The transition to XMF Workflow included on-site training for first and second shifts at Panaprint, to ensure everyone at Panaprint was fully trained. 

“Fujifilm’s techs worked one-on-one for a full week with both of our shifts, and that was really a huge help,” said Axtell. “With other companies, we sent one or two employees to a training class at a demo facility. While their information was good, it was difficult to come back and implement the training in the real world as well as train the rest of the team. With Fujifilm, everything was here and all of our employees were able to learn directly from the Fujifilm technicians. It was one of the smoothest transitions I’ve seen.

“Fujifilm was able to be a true partner for us; I value that,” concluded Axtell.
