WESTERN NEW YORK’S LARGEST HEALTHCARE PROVIDER IMPLEMENTS FUJIFILM’S RADIOLOGY AND CARDIOLOGY PACS

Kaleida Health uses Synapse® solutions to meet evolving needs

Stamford, Conn., May 10, 2012 - FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA, is pleased to announce that Kaleida Health –the largest health system in Western New York State – has selected Synapse® PACS, Synapse® Cardiovascular, and Synapse® Virtual Server and enterprise imaging Architecture to replace the health system’s legacy PACS, CPACS, and imaging archives. The Synapse system will be hosted at Kaleida Health’s Data Center supporting its four hospitals and associated health centers throughout the Buffalo, New York region.

The clinical benefits of the Synapse PACS and Synapse Cardiovascular solutions drove Kaleida Health’s purchasing decision. “After exploring many options, we felt that Fujifilm could offer a single vendor, virtualized PACS and CPACS that was capable of accommodating the rigorous demands of our facilities,” says David Croston, VP and Chief Technology Officer at Kaleida Health. “Fujifilm provides Kaleida Health’s radiologists and cardiologists with a single view of a patient’s clinical information while accommodating the specific needs of each specialty.

Kaleida Health is the largest health care provider in Western New York, with four state-of- the art facilities including Buffalo General Medical Center, a 501-bed facility and it’s new Gates Vascular Institute (GVI) a state-of-the-art, world class cardiovascular care center. The Gates Vascular Institute, along with Kaleida Health’s additional cardiology departments, conduct 75 percent of the cardiac procedures in the region. Synapse Cardiovascular will provide the Gates Vascular Institute and Kaleida Health’s satellite cardiology departments with one structured reporting and image visualization solution that can accommodate all cardiology studies.

Another contributing factor in Kaleida Health’s decision to select Fujifilm was Great Lakes Medical Imaging (GLMI) use of Synapse PACS and RIS for its imaging centers and tele-radiology services. GLMI is the primary provider of radiology reading services for Kaleida Health. Now, the reading group and Kaleida Health will benefit from Synapse enterprise reading capability and CommonView technology which enables the facilities to share patients’ clinical history ensuring the delivery of high quality patient care.
